The Kansas University DHA Outcomes Study (KUDOS) indicated that a daily 600 mg DHA supplement led to significant reductions in early preterm birth and this would result in significant hospital cost savings. For the nearly 4 million live births in the US every year this cost.

Omega-3s enhance cognition in at-risk older adults. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign | Engredea News & Analysis May 20, 2015

A study of older adults at risk of late-onset Alzheimer's disease found that those who consumed more omega-3 fatty acids did better than their peers on tests of cognitive flexibility—the ability to efficiently switch between tasks—and had a bigger anterior cingulate cortex, a brain region known to contribute to cognitive flexibility.

EPA/DHA Omega-3 Products Market to Hit $35 Billion by 2016

Global consumer spending on EPA/DHA omega 3 fortified products will jump from $25.4 billion in 2011 to $34.7 billion in 2016, for a compound annual growth rate of 6.4%, according to a new report from Packaged Facts titled “The Global Market for EPA/DHA Omega-3 Products.” By geographic region, North America currently accounts for 43% of these consumer sales, but Asia-Pacific is projected to jump to a close second-place by 2016. These figures, based on research commissioned by the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3 (GOED) and presented at the GOED Exchange 2012 conference in Boston, cover six categories of packaged consumer products: infant formula; fortified foods and beverages; nutritional supplements; pharmaceuticals; clinical nutrition products; and pet food, treats and supplements.

Studies show that Green Lipped Mussel Eases Joint Pain & Increases Mobility

The Inflammopharmacology Journal has published a new study on freeze-dried mussel powder produced by Aroma New Zealand. According to company director Ben Winters, this study showed that its green lipped mussel powder significantly eased knee joint pain by 59% in subjects.
